Berlin lifts its 2026 growth forecast to 1.3 percent
The government's autumn projection is more upbeat than spring, but private demand is expected to recover only slowly.
Economy minister Katherina Reiche presented the German government's autumn projection, which now expects price-adjusted GDP to grow by 1.3 percent in 2026, 0.8 percentage points more than in the spring forecast, followed by 1.1 percent in 2027 and 0.6 percent in 2028.
The ministry credits exports and public spending, including special funds and defence, while expecting private consumption and investment to pick up only gradually. It says the outlook depends heavily on how the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine develop.
